Susie Pearson Obituary
Susie was born on January 23, 1947, to the late Judge Edwards and Ida V. Edwards Fields in Emporia, VA. She was one of nine children.
Susie was educated in the Greensville County School system. She was a longtime active and devoted member of Zion Baptist Church in Purdy, VA where she faithfully served as an Usher.
Some of her younger years were spent living and working in New York and Plainfield, NJ. After returning home to Freeman, VA, she worked at Butler Lumber Company, Lawrenceville, VA, Keller Aluminum in McKenney, VA, Purdue in Emporia VA and Boars Head in Jarratt, VA, where she retired in April 2012.
Susie enjoyed spending time with her family, close friends, cooking and watching her soap operas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sisters; Ann Lee and Fannie Jackson, and three brothers; Willie, Johnnie, Robert Earl Edward.
Susie leaves to cherish her memories her beloved sons, Barry Hayes (LaKita) of Knoxville, TN, and Carlo Warren Hayes (Wendy) of South Hill, VA; seven grandchildren, Eboni Hayes of Nashville, TN, Vincent Hayes (Jasmine) of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher Hayes of Chattanooga, TN, Carlo Hayes, Jr, JaMarcus Hayes and Sh'Cory Barner of Petersburg, VA and Brianna Bacon of South Hill, VA; six great grandchildren; two sisters; Earlene Cain (George) of Emporia, VA and Celestine Gibbons (Jesse) of Freeman, VA; one brother, Judge Edwards of Emporia, VA; one stepsister, Catherine Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; among them her devoted niece,
Alice Mae Richardson.
