Suzanne Marie Alford-Burke, 56, proud Canadian-American, died August 18, 2023, in her home in Fitzgerald, GA.
Suzanne (Su) was a bluenoser, born on May 1, 1967, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She moved from Ontario, Canada, to Alabama in 1999 with her husband, son, daughter, dog, and cat. Su was an avid walker, crafter, volunteer, and reader. She made friends everywhere she went. She loved snail mail and sending cards to loved ones. In Canada, Su opened a home daycare and always had at least five children under the age of five beneath her feet. She loved puddle jumping and preferred to talk to a child than an adult. Later in life, Su developed a love of birds and became an amateur birder. Su was a beautiful, strong-willed woman. She loved deeply and prayed hard.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, James Burke; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Summer Burke; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Jane and Austin Woolmaker; three grandsons, Mason, Hudson, and Holden Burke; brothers and sisters, Michael Alford, Debby (Alain) Sauve, Rich White, Bradley White, Lisa (Sean) Greenough; her Penny; and the Canadian Burkes. Suzanne is "MoMo" to her grandchildren and "Aunt Su" to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerry Alford; mother, Lauretta White; step-father, Rick White; and her favorite person, Aunt Rita.
Suzanne's Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National MS Society. May Suzanne walk tall for many miles in Heaven.
