Suzanne Anderberg (Nielson), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in
Lehi, Utah, at the age of 74.
Suzanne was born on September 16, 1951, in
Monticello, Utah, to Francis David Nielson and Velda Johnson Nielson and was raised in Blanding, Utah. In 1986, she was sealed to the love of her life, Steven Anderberg, in the Provo Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they built a home centered on faith, creativity, laughter, and unconditional love.
Suzanne was a devoted mother to six children: Dan, Steven, Amanda, Adam, Avery, and Paige. While some came through birth and others through marriage, she loved each of them deeply and without distinction. To her family, and to many others, she was our beloved "Mama Bear," fiercely protective and endlessly loving. Anyone who joined the family, quickly discovered they were welcomed and loved as one of her own.
She also found immense joy in being a grandmother and treasured every opportunity to care for, cheer on and celebrate her grandchildren.
Suzanne possessed a remarkable gift for creativity that shaped much of her life. She loved dance and excelled in ballet, tap, ballroom, hula, and western swing. She taught for many years and won ballroom competitions, an interest that ultimately led her to meet her eternal companion, Steve. She was also a talented singer who enjoyed creating and performing in musicals and singing in her ward choir.
Her creativity extended into many handmade works. Suzanne was an accomplished tole painter, woodworker, seamstress, and quilter who filled her home with beautiful creations and lovingly stitched quilts for family and friends. She was also known for her incredible skill as a cake decorator whose beautiful and delicious cakes helped make birthdays, weddings, and family celebrations unforgettable.
Despite her many talents, Suzanne cherished simple, peaceful moments. She loved reading, working on puzzles, and relaxing with a Lifetime or Hallmark movie nearby. Her home was always warm and welcoming, often with a quilt in progress and a sweet treat ready for anyone who stopped by.
Suzanne loved and served with her whole heart. She was often the first to bring a meal, offer help, or lend a listening ear. Her children relied on her wisdom, kindness, and encouragement, and she rarely missed an event or milestone in their lives. She was also a loyal friend whose relationships spanned decades.
Above all, Suzanne's life was rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ. Alongside her husband, she faithfully served for many years in the Provo and Saratoga Springs Temples and served joyfully in many church callings, including many years as a beloved Primary chorister. Through her example of prayer, scripture study, and service, she taught her family the importance of drawing closer to the Savior.
Suzanne will be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, served selflessly, created beautifully, and laughed often. To her family she was not only a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt, but also a counselor, cheerleader, teacher, and safe place. Though we will miss her deeply, the love she gave and the example she lived will continue to guide our family for generations.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, Steven Anderberg; her children Daniel Flanagan, Steven (Pam) Flanagan, Amanda (Micah) Riggs, Adam Anderberg, Avery Anderberg, and Paige (Eli) Sosa; and her eleven grandchildren Dason, Evan, Hazel, Kestlie, Corban, Keaton, Mia, Conrad, Ethan, Vander, and Syrell. She is also survived by her sisters Sylvia Lusty and Michelle (Mario) Cintron, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
We take comfort in imagining her joyful reunion with those who passed before her including her parents, Bud and Velda Nielson, brothers Francis and Boyd Nielson, and many others who loved her.
Funeral services will be held on March 14, 2026, at 270 W Harvest Hills Blvd., Saratoga Springs, Utah 84045. A viewing will be held from 9:30–10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A Zoom link will be available for those who cannot attend.
The family sincerely thanks the many friends, neighbors, and ward members whose kindness, service, and prayers have brought comfort during this time. For those who wish to do so, donations to assist with medical & funeral expenses would be sincerely appreciated in place of flowers. Donations may be made directly to Steve Anderberg's Venmo (@Steve-Anderberg).
