Full Obituary
Suzanne H. "Sue" Baker (nee Duncan), age 79, of Breese, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Born on October 27, 1945, in Breese, Sue was the daughter of the late Earl and Bernice (nee Buller) Duncan. She married the late Michael R. Meissner in December 1965, and together they raised four children. In June 1990, she married the late James A. Baker.
Sue is survived by her loving children: Stephen Meissner of Breese, Lisa (John) Cosenza of Roanoke, TX, Dina (Jeff) Brother of O'Fallon, MO, and Christopher (Kim) Meissner of Troy, IL. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Alex (friend Abby) Meissner, Faye (friend Zach) Meissner, Aaron and Abby Cosenza, Zach (Taylor) Meissner, Logan (fiancé Brittany) Meissner, and great-grandmother to Brooklynn Meissner. Sue is also survived by her beloved brother David (Laurie) Duncan of Woodbridge, VA, her nephews Steven and Joseph Duncan, and her step-children Barry (Gigi) Baker, Maria Baker Williams, Christopher (Margaret) Baker, and Laura (Mike) Liantonio.
A graduate of Saint Paul High School in Highland, IL, Sue built a successful career as a credit manager at Middendorf Meat in St. Louis, where she worked diligently before enjoying a well-earned retirement.
Sue was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and gave her time generously as a past volunteer for the Breese St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Sue found great joy in life's simple pleasures-golfing, playing cards, bowling, and traveling-but her greatest love was always her family and friends. Sue's life was defined by her deep love for her family and her extraordinary ability to nurture lifelong friendships. Many of her closest friends were by her side for nearly her entire life, sharing countless memories and moments of joy. Sue's warmth, kindness, and unwavering loyalty touched everyone she met. Her home was a place of love and comfort, and her legacy of friendship and compassion will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. James Nall presiding. Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery.
