Suzanne Rita Campbell (1938-2025)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Suzanne Rita Campbell (nee Beaudet), 87, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, a wonderful Mom, MomMom, aunt, sister, and friend.
Sue was born and raised in
Woonsocket, RI. Her parents Ralph and Blanche Beaudet and brother Bob spoke French at home, and Sue learned to speak English only when she started school at the age of six. In Woonsocket, she attended St. Clare High School for Girls, took care of her dog Thumper, played the piano, and met lifelong friends - she and her neighbor Monique remained friends for over 80 years.
She was a proud graduate of Regis College in
Weston, MA, Class of 1959, where she earned a bachelor's degree in nutrition, and pursued a long career as a dietitian for the Seilers Corporation at various hospitals in Massachusetts.
She married Neil Philip Campbell - who she met at her friend Monique's wedding - and ultimately settled in
Needham, MA, where they raised their four children, Carolyn, Patty, John, and Ann Marie.
As so many good Massachusetts parents do, Sue and Neil eventually retired to Centerville on Cape Cod. Sue's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren, and she loved hosting everyone for vacations at the Cape. Along the way, Sue also enjoyed sewing, knitting, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading mystery novels, watching Jeopardy, playing solitaire, and solving the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle. She was a great cook, and her children and grandchildren will especially miss her fudge and angel pie at Christmas time.
Sue had a special place in her heart for her daughter, Ann Marie, who she cared for lovingly for over 56 years, and made sure that Ann Marie thrived in the greater Hyannis area with the wonderful special needs services provided for individuals with Down Syndrome. After Neil passed away, Sue and Ann Marie enjoyed their time living together at Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth, and at Brookdale in Hyannis.
In 2022 Sue moved from Cape Cod to
Princeton Junction, NJ, where she resided until her passing. The family is thankful to the staff at Artis Senior Living, where she was lovingly called "Sue-Sue" and "Buttercup", and to all her wonderful caretakers over the years, especially Robin Feeley.
She is survived by her four children and their loving spouses (Carolyn Campbell-McGovern and Bill McGovern, Patty and Mickey Hickey, John and Jill Campbell, Ann Marie Campbell), her six beloved grandchildren (Dylan, Duncan, Kelsey, Katie, Maggie and Ryan), her dear brother Robert Beaudet, and many precious nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Church in Garrett Park, Maryland at Noon on Saturday December 27. In the spring she will be buried alongside Neil, her husband of 53 years, at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Cape Cod.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Abilities,
Hyannis, MA; www.capeabilities.org, where Ann Marie was a participant and Sue spent time as a volunteer.
