Suzanne Ellis Carter passed away on Monday, December 29th, 2025. Sue was born in Beech Grove, Indiana, on November 27th, 1934.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents James Bayard Ellis and Francis Ellis, her son Kenneth Carter Jr., and her husband
Kenneth Carter Sr.
Sue graduated from Banning High School, Banning, California, in 1952. She then graduated with her bachelor's.
degree in Speech Pathology and Hearing Audiology from Redlands University, Redlands, California, in 1956. Sue graduated with her master's degree in hearing audiology from Colorado University, Boulder, Colorado, in 1972.
She met and married her amazing husband, Ken, in the summer of 1965 and together raised seven children at Eaglebird Ranch in Boulder, Colorado. Sue enjoyed traveling, snorkeling, and spending time with her family and was an avid reader. Sue
was an extraordinary woman! She was the mentor of her children and grandchildren, the matriarch of her family. Sue worked as an audiologist with the Westminster School District for many years, followed by working as a surgical assistant at a Boulder Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, before opening up her own private practice as an audiologist, where she led a volunteer hearing
clinic every school year for the Navajo Reservation at Four Corners.
She is survived by her six remaining children, Susan (Jim), Robert (Shari), Stephen (Nohemi), Jay, Kay (Rex), and Jennifer (Geoff), along with 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Her Memorial is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 685 Inca
Parkway, Boulder, Colorado 80303. A private graveside interment will be held later the same day.
