Mary Suzanne Dickas, age 79, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 29, 1945, in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was the beloved daughter of the late Charles H. Dickas, Jr., and Catherine Dent Dickas.
Though she faced physical challenges throughout her adult life, Suzanne's spirit was never hindered. She lived every day with joy, humor, and determination. A proud member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, she was a woman of deep faith whose love for the Lord guided her every step. She attended church as often as she could and was a devoted Christian whose gentle heart and quick wit brightened every room she entered.
Suzanne loved to travel and see the world around her-especially when it involved her RV, a fishing pole, and the open road. She had an adventurous soul, a mischievous streak, and a wonderful sense of humor that kept everyone around her laughing. She was a true prankster and a lifelong fan of car races. Among her greatest blessings was her cherished circle of friends, affectionately known as The Honeybees, who shared countless memories and laughter together over the years. She is survived by her loving siblings, Margaret Danielle VanSlyke; Charlie Dickas and his wife, Cindy; Caroline Westner and her husband, Bernie; and Catherine Andrews and her husband, Mark.
A graveside service celebrating Suzanne's life will be held on her birthday, at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 29, at Forest Hills Cemetery, with Pastor Frank Hitchings officiating.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to her devoted caregivers-LaShonda, Amanda, Carla, and Aterra. Their compassion, friendship, and care allowed Suzanne to remain in her home, just as she wished. They went above and beyond, treating her like family. LaShonda, especially, held a special place in Suzanne's heart-taking her on adventures to see Christmas lights, watch the ducks at the park, and enjoy drives around town together. Those simple moments brought Suzanne great joy. She would often talk about wanting to go fishing one day and sit by the water while LaShonda held the pole-a plan they never got around to, but one that always made her smile.
Suzanne's life was a reflection of love, laughter, faith, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her but fondly remembered for the light she shared so freely.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Suzanne's memory may be made to
The Muscular Dystrophy Association,
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Siskin Children's Institute, or Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
