It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Suzanne “Sue” Una (Ertel) Janson of Ottsville, Pa. on January 11, 2026, at the age of 85, due to a house fire. Sue’s beloved Shilo and Diva passed with her, in the home, that night.
Sue was born to parent’s Charles Wesley Ertel and Lillian “Marie” Mosteller in Germantown, Pa. on July 29, 1940.
She is survived by her sister Christina; her 2 sons Jeff (DIL Susan) and Eric; she was Nana to her grandchildren Rachael (Kory) & Isabella and Shannah, and great grandchildren Kibbe & Oona and Sophia. She is preceded in death by both parents and her husband John Janson who passed in 2008.
Sue led a life of adventure and great passions, from community theater and photography to nursemaiding injured animals and sailing as crew on the tall ship Gazela which is Philadelphia’s Maritime Goodwill Ambassador ship. She was the Owner /Operator of Kap King in Ottsville, and later in life she started CrossRoads where she designed and sold Celtic and Southwestern Jewelry.
She learned to play golf in her seventies; had weekly game nights with beloved friends, and attended bimonthly square dancing meetups. She didn’t let anything stop her and the phrase “never met a stranger” fit her like a glove.
A service and celebration to honor Sue’s life will be held on Friday, February 6. A visitation for guests will start at 10:00 a.m., and the celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a.m., both at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service located at 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown, PA 18951.
The family would love for you to attend, and all the better if you come with a story of Sue. Her children and grandchildren would love to hear why she was important to you.
We spent some time thinking about this, if you knew Sue well you would know the last thing she would want are cut flowers that don’t last. From an early age she had a passion for horses, they’re what brought her and Johnny together. Her passion for animals didn’t stop there though; from skunks to hawks; turtles to deer, if there was a chance she could nurse it back to health she was going to try.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal rescue Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown. Online at www.Lastchanceranch.org or P.O. Box 1009, Quakertown, PA 18951. Thank you.
