Suzanne Martis Obituary
Suzanne was born on April 28, 1935, to Eugene Alden and Doris (Payne) Livingston in St. Johns, MI where she grew up on the family mint farm. She attended St. Johns High School, where she graduated in 1953. Suzanne also attended the University of Michigan for one year before going to Lansing Business College. She married the love of her life, Edward Martis Sr. on December 16, 1956, at the First Congregational Church in St. Johns. She worked as a professional secretary for the State of Michigan until her retirement in 1972.
During her life, Suzanne enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, farming, watching birds and other wildlife, learning about her family's history, along with county/state and national history as well as government business. She was also an avid St. Johns Red Wings and University of Michigan football fan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Ed Martis Sr.; son, Edward Spencer (Susan) Martis, Jr.; brothers, Eugene (Carole) Livingston, Jr., David (Sheryl) Livingston; brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Alden Livingston Sr., and Doris (Payne) Livingston.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 5 - 8 PM at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Parkway, St. Johns, MI 48879.
A Funeral Service will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2 PM, with a time of gathering starting at 1:30PM. Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Suzanne's name are encouraged to be made to the Clinton County Historical Society.

When I first opened my store Suzanne came in and asked if I had silent butler. I had no idea what it was she had to tell me. She always had that laughter and I have never forgotten what a silent butler is and her great smile. My condolences to the family. Bill Bennett
