Suzanne T. Mendoza, 87, formerly of Clarksburg and Parkersburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at Waterview Point in Belpre, Ohio.
She was born in Syracuse, New York, on February 19, 1938, a daughter of the late William and Frances Sklarczyk Trach.
Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her husband Catalino B. Mendoza, Jr. M.D. of Parkersburg, WV. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Mendoza D.O. and wife Inger of St. Petersburg, Fl, and David Mendoza M.D. and wife Heather of Parkersburg, WV; two daughters, Debra Wilhelm and husband Frederick of Bridgeport, WV and Laura Mendoza, D.O. of Melbourne, Fl; six grandchildren, Ashley Trippett and husband Justin, Tyler Wilhelm and fiancé Jenna, Wesley Mendoza and wife Kasandra, Trinity Mendoza, Nicholas Ramirez and wife Shelby, and Christopher Gargova and wife Dessislava; and eight great grandchildren, Will Trippett, Graham Trippett, Rome Trippett, Mason Mendoza, Camilla Mendoza, Persephone Mendoza, Ivaan Gargova and Rubye Ramirez. She also Leaves behind her siblings, Barbara Lucia, Katherine Trach, and Billy Trach all of Syracuse, NY; and step grandchildren, Victoria Fleemin and Lilliana Panthera.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her foster parents Mr. and Mrs. Flannagan; two brothers, John Trach, and Walter Trach, and one sister Stella Bonfe.
Suzanne received her diploma in nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse, NY and continued her education from Salem College earning a bachelor's degree. She was a retired nurse from private practice and the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital.
Mrs. Mendoza was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and St. Margaret Mary of Parkersburg. After retirement she enjoyed painting, gardening in her flower garden, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was known fondly by her grandchildren as "Amee".
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where there will be a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Stonewood, with Father Walt Jagela as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association NCWV, 1299 Pineview Drive, #3, Morgantown, WV 26505 or to American Cancer Society, 122 High Street, Morgantown, WV 26505.
