It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Suzanne Eloise Terek, age 56, on April 6, 2025. She passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family following a one-year battle with lung cancer. Born in Upper Darby, PA on June 20, 1968, she was the heart and soul of her family. She was known for her warm smile, bright spirit and helping hand. No one was a stranger in any room she walked into, as she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and important.
Suzanne dedicated her life to putting her family first and just loved stepping into the role of motherhood in every sense of the word. She would brag about her children to all who would listen, as well as those who wouldn't. She never missed an important moment or event, and there was never any doubt of how proud she was. She even had a knack for "adopting" friends in our lives growing up who needed some motherly love. Suzanne would always be front and center of planning, whether that be stepping up as girl scout leader or setting up crew tents at 4am every weekend with a smile on her face.
Among her many interests, she fostered a lifelong love of music. Growing up she loved playing the flute, earning first flute first chair in her band as well as playing piccolo in the marching band. She shared this talent with her son Justin, encouraging his love of music from a very young age.
Suzanne loved life in a way that made everyone around her feel special. She would jump headfirst into every new thing with a smile, whether it was trying something crazy or pushing herself to do something new. She never hesitated to follow her heart, which is one of her most admirable traits. Perhaps most notable is her infectious passion, which she would spread with sparking eyes and open arms.
In her life, she was an inspiration and role model to many people in different ways. She taught us how to appreciate the small things in life, whether that be walking her dog Coco on the beach, watching sunsets, planting her garden, or cooking. She found joy in spending time with those she loved. She loved deeply, was quick to lead with a hug, and always offered empathy and forgiveness.
Suzanne never let her cancer diagnosis define who she was or how she lived. She faced her fight with courage and grace. She continued to think of those around her and how to lift others up. She fiercely lived life knowing there was no promise of tomorrow. And when the end came, she chose to fight in a different way- by surrounding herself with love and happiness.
Suzanne leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, deeply missed by her husband, Tibor; and children, Justin and Danielle. A celebration of her life will be held at St Mary Mother of God Church on Saturday, April 12 with eulogies at 9:30am in the narthex followed by a funeral mass at 10:00am.
