Sybil Mathis McNair, 91, of Tomball, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on October 20, 2025. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Sybil was born in Inman, South Carolina, on February 28, 1934, to Furman and Bessie Mathis. She was raised in Forest City, North Carolina, where she excelled in basketball during her high school years. In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart "Mac" McNair and they resided in Charlotte, North Carolina. They moved to the Houston area with their family in 1969, and then to Tomball, Texas, in 1971, where she resided for the rest of her life. Sybil was an avid bowler during the early years of raising her children and even won a Charlotte City tournament. After caring for her husband until his passing in 2014, she became involved with the Tomball Community Center, participating in the line dancing classes and many other activities. Sybil found great enjoyment in traveling with her line dancing team to perform at various community events and senior living centers. She made many friends during this time. She also participated in church mission trips to Ukraine, where they worked in an orphanage, and to Maine, where they helped organize a fall festival to enable outreach to the local community. She and Mac were instrumental in the early years of Southwinds Baptist Church in Tomball, and she remained a devoted member until her passing.

Sybil is survived by her daughter, Debbie Conn and husband, Jimmy, of San Angelo, Texas; sons, Scott McNair and wife, Renee, of Tomball, Texas and R.F. (Foster) McNair, III and wife, Angela, of the Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren, Crystal Conn Geaslin and husband, Chad, of San Angelo, Texas; Brandon McNair of the Woodlands, Texas; Amy McNair Frenza of Humble, Texas; and Ruse F. McNair, IV, of the Woodlands, Texas; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Lucas and Nathan McNair of the Woodlands, Texas; sisters Geraldine Jolly of Forest City, North Carolina; Blanche Thompson and husband, Glen Howard, of North Carolina; numerous nephews and nieces of Houston, Texas and North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, R.F. (Mac) McNair, Jr.; her parents and her brother, Morris Mathis of North Carolina.

A beautiful and kind lady with a heart that reached out to everyone she met. Her heart and her hand reached out and was felt by all who knew her. She has now reached out to God and she will be in His arms forever.
