A life well lived is all that most of us would desire and David Alan Weaver's was filled with an abundance of family, love, and faith. He entered into the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on October 22, 2025, peacefully at home in Pinehurst, Texas, with his beloved wife, Karolyn by his side.

His story began on August 4, 1951, in Clarksville, Texas, a quintessential East Texas town with a striking court house and strong agricultural roots. He was born to David Jackson Weaver, Jr. and Mary Kirkland Weaver-Jones.

David Jackson and Mary were raising their young family in Clarksville after WWII, where David Jackson served in the Navy as a Helldiver pilot. He transitioned to civilian family life, with Mary, and they wrangled their three children, James Kirkland "Kirk", Lisa Anne, and, their youngest, David Alan.

After the death of Alan's father in his early teens, Alan graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas, where he was a true Texan and a Lee Gentleman.

Following high school, Alan attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he met two of the great loves of his life Karolyn Karels, his constant companion for 54 years, and aviation. Alan and Karolyn were engaged three weeks after meeting in July 1970 and married on May 22, 1971. While at SFA he also earned his private pilot's license for General Aviation. And supported his new marriage by driving a bread truck and managing a Dairy Queen. Eventually, the young couple settled in Houston where Alan attended the University of Houston and began his career in computing.

While working as a software developer alongside his best friend and mentor, Carl Dorman, he engineered an elegant solution for mainframes. As the owner of Woven, Inc he created and produced the SMF Utility product.

During this time he saw the birth of his two sons, William David and Joshua Alan. Each precious in his heart.

To his family he served as a model of dedication, faith and service. As an active member of First Baptist Church of Houston, he served on the media crew as an audio engineer for both TV production and in-house Sunday Services - plus FBC's Christmas Pageant for many years. An interest his grandson Gavin Zahn shares as he works on the technical side of theater for his high school.

Also, he took the helm as Cubmaster of Pack 789 and Scoutmaster of Troop 789 mentoring many Eagle Scouts, including his two sons and one grandson, William Christian (another grandson, Roman David, is currently a Life Scout working toward his Eagle).

He lived his life as God commanded, with joy. He spent time with his family - telling them all the stories. He loved watching the Texas A&M Aggies and University of Houston Cougar football teams, though he was first a fan of the Texas Longhorns. He pursued many hobbies like woodworking, photography, and, of course, flying. Alan flew his 4-seater single engine fixed wing Piper Archer while continuing his aviation education and later upgraded to a 6-seater high performance single engine fixed wing Piper Saratoga.

Alan was many things to many people. While most called him Alan, throughout his illustrious life, he responded to "Baby Huey", "Luther," and, of course, "Poppi." He will always be known for the enormous love and caring he shared with his family and friends.

In Heaven, Alan gets to gloriously join the family who have preceded him: parents David Jackson Weaver, Jr. and Mary Kirkland Weaver-Jones; sister Lisa Anne Weaver; brother James Kirkland "Kirk" Weaver; and grandson Maximus Kirk Weaver.

Alan is survived by Karolyn Karels Weaver, his loving wife of 54 years; son William David Weaver and wife Victoria Weaver; son Joshua Alan Weaver and wife Camille Weaver; grandchildren William Christian Weaver, Gavin Zahn Weaver, Roman David Weaver, Adriel Kalisa Weaver, and Noah Elijah Ford. Alan is also survived by his father-in-law James Dudley Karels and wife Judy Karels; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
