Sydney Simmons Obituary
Sydney Simmons, Sr. was born February 28, 1932, to W.L. and Bessie Gayler Simmons in Cooper, TX. He married Oleta Watkins on July 28, 1950, in Lubbock, TX. Sydney was a painting and drywall contractor for many years. He was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, rebuilding antique motorcycles, Trap Shooting, and spending time with friends and family.
Sydney is survived by a son, Jerry (Tamyra) Simmons; grandchildren, Casey (Ashleigh) Simmons, Colton (Lexi) Simmons, Cade (Peyton) Simmons; great-grandchildren, Griffin Simmons, Tate Simmons, Brady Simmons, Barrett Simmons, Drue Simmons, Beau Simmons, Andi Simmons, Reed Simmons.
He is preceded in death by wife, Oleta Simmons; son, Sydney Simmons Jr.; grandson, Nicholas Simmons; and parents, W.L., and Bessie Simmons.

Jerry, I miss your Dad, Syd, you mother Oleta, you brother Sydney Wayne, and cousin Dottie (Doris) Manley, as well as all my other Watkins family in Lubbock. We spent much time with each other when we were growing up. Miss you too, Jerry.

So sorry to hear of Syd's passing. He married into our family in 1951 and always was close to all of us throughout. My childhood memories are full of fondness for Syd, Oleta, Sydney Wayne and Jerry as we spent much time together over the years. I will remember him forever. Bill Liles
