Graveside services for Sylvanna Georgia Caldwell will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025 @ 10:00 a.m. at the Kialegee Cemetery,
Wetumka, Oklahoma.
Sylvanna Georgia Caldwell was born August 22, 1945 in
Wetumka, Oklahoma to Sammy Fish and Martha Larion (Berryhill) Fish. She passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 80.
Sylvanna was a longtime resident of the Wetumka area. She was a graduate of Wetumka High School, Chilocco Boarding School and East Central University of Ada receiving a bachelor of science in special education degree and a licensed teacher in the state of Oklahoma. Sylvanna also was an honor graduate from Wright Business School in information technology. She worked with the Native American Alternative School in OKC, providing ten urban inner-city students with basic educational studies. After the project ended, Sylvanna moved onto work in the federal program with the summer youth program in OKC. There, she supervised native American youth that she placed in various job opportunities to enhance their job skills. Sylvanna was employed by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, Shawnee, Oklahoma as director of education. She then went home to work for her tribe, Kialegee Tribal Town as a contractor for the transportation program and later was elevated to director of transportation. She moved onto and became fiscal director for Kialegee Gas and Oil. Sylvanna was chairperson for the Wetumka Indian Community Program, which she resigned to run for the Tvkvpvtce district in a legislative position in Mvskoke National Council. She won while still continuing to be the director of human resources with the Thlopthlocco Tribal Town for the casino, supervising 122 workers. Sylvanna provided a home for young teens, she received educator of the year OCIO, OKC. She also served on the advisory board of the Kialegee Tribal Twon Business Committee and as Sr. Miss Kialegee for 2022-2024. Sylvanna enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynn Caldwell (2015), one son and one sister, Dorothy Jean.
Survivors include on son, Tryg Jorgensen (Dianne) of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Margie Scott of Wetumka and Mary Proctor of Prague; three step-sons, Edward Jo Caldwell (Yolanda), Johnny Adam Caldwell and Jimmy Lynn Caldwell; one step-daughter, Misty Lynn Collins (Jimmy); grandchildren, Johnny Dale Caldwell, Amando Jo Caldwell, Cody Lynn Caldwell (Tiffany), Dustin Wayne Caldwell (Aspen), Wyatt Daniel Caldwell (Hailey), Austin Leigh Caldwell (Kasey) John Stephan Kosztak (Mikaya) and Toni Cheyenne Carpenter (Trevor); three nieces, Alice Scott (Tony), Deborah Sue Scott and Marian Larney (Russell) and numerous great-grandchildren.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home
Wetumka, Oklahoma.
