Sylvester Cottrell Obituary
Sylvester worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for more than 30 years and Illinois Bell. He was known for his love to talk to anyone who passed by. He also loved to fish; he will be missed greatly.
Sylvester is preceded in death by both parents and parents-in-law; Jim and Alberta Blanks; siblings, Curtis "Sonny" Cottrell, John Wesley Cottrell and Billy Cottrell; Christine Sherman, Carrie Humphrey and Mary Lou George; and wife, Jimmie Cottrell.
Sylvester is survived by his three sons; Sylvester Jr. (Debbie) Cottrell of Joliet, IL, Jon Cottrell of Santa Ana, CA and Steven Cottrell of Berkley, CA; two daughters, Sylvia Cottrell of Chicago, IL and Stephanie (Bobby) Norris of Dickinson, TX. Sylvester is also survived by one sister, Zinnie Massard of Florida; grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Cottrell lived next door from me when I first moved to Joliet. I'll always remember his stories of the past and the life experiences he shared with everyone. One Fourth of July cookout, he entertained the group of family and friends for a full 8 hours, talking nonstop, and everyone there could not believe the time that had passed. His stories were so interesting.
