Sylvester Jones Obituary

It is with great sadness but with an enduring love that I, Dana Jones , share the passing of my beloved husband, Sylvester A. Jones, affectionately known as "Florida Boy". Sylvester was born on April 3, 1943, in Daytona Beach, Florida. A man of vibrant spirit and infectious laughter, Sylvester lived a life marked by his charismatic personality and a heart that was always bursting with love and kindness. His loyalty to his family, friends, and the American Legion Post 140, where he was a treasured member, was unwavering. He was a man who filled every room with humor and warmth, a beacon of light that touched everyone he met.

Sylvester was a talented salesman, having retired from Colonial Toyota of Milford. But his true passions lay outside his professional life. He was a sports enthusiast who loved playing baseball at Campbell high school and even coached his own team, the FJ Rookies in Norwalk, CT. He played football at Delaware State College and was an avid basketball watcher. But the charm of Sylvester's personality was best exhibited when he sang, especially his favorite karaoke song, "My Way." His singing was a reflection of his life, a life that he indeed lived in his unique and captivating way. As stated in Proverbs 17:22, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones," Sylvester's cheerfulness was his medicine, spreading joy and happiness wherever he went.

Sylvester is survived by his loving wife, Dana Jones of Trumbull CT , his children Carlos Doston of Daytona Beach FL, Vera Henneghan of Savannah GA , Ashton Jones of New York NY , Shonda and Hosan Davis of Norwalk CT , TyJuan (Latoya) Hubbard of Hamden CT & Devon Hubbard of Jacksonville FL . we would also like to mention his bonus children, Evelyn Teal of Savannah GA , Brandon (Marciana) Hubbard of West Haven CT , Iesha Sharpe of Orlando FL, Yvette Harrison of Norwalk CT & Damion Scott of Stratford CT . Sylvester was also known as Poppy to 13 grandchildren , and 2 great grandchildren . Sylvester is predeceased by his parents , James & Alma Jones , Alphonso Henneghan Sr & Devonté Henneghan and his 11 siblings .

The viewing and funeral services will be held on Saturday, 11th of October 2025, at New Vision International Ministries, 1010 Atlantic Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut, 06604. The viewing will commence at 10:00 am and the funeral service will start at 12:00 pm.
