Sylvia Kot Assadourian, 48, formerly of Butler, passed away on Saturday September 7, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in Przemysl, Poland, Sylvia was raised with the help of her grandmother and aunts in Buszkowiczki, Poland and came to the United States in 1992 at the age of sixteen for the opportunity to work and help support her family members back in Poland. Upon her arrival, Sylvia initially lived with her cousin Violet in Clifton and then, after meeting her future husband Sam in 1995 moved with him to Wayne. After their marriage in 1997, Sylvia and Sam moved to Florida where their daughter Nicole was born in 2001 and then returned to New Jersey in 2003, settling in Butler where they lived when their second child, Sam, was born in 2008. More recently, the family has been living in Whippany. She was self-employed running her own cleaning service throughout her career. Always a woman of faith, over the years Sylvia was a parishioner of Holy Rosary RC Church in Passaic, St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Butler and St. Joseph RC Church in West Milford and faithfully attended prayer group meetings. She also enjoyed time spent at the Jersey Shore, relaxing on the beach in the shade of a beach umbrella and reading books. Above all else, her family and friends meant the most to her and helping them or doing favors for them were a love and passion of hers she loved giving and never said no the them.
Sylvia was predeceased by her loved and missed father, Aleksander Piotr Kot as well as by her dearly missed brother, Grzegorz Kot.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Sami Assadourian, of Whippany; her two devoted and cherished children, Nicole and Sam Assadourian, both also of Whippany; her loved mother, Teresa (nee Sekalska) Kot of Poland; her two dear sisters, Iwona Gawel and Magdalena Trybala, both also of Poland; as well as by the many, many members of her loving extended family both here in the United States as well as in Poland.
Visiting will be Monday 4-8pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral Tuesday 11:15am from the funeral home and 12:00pm at Holy Rosary RC Church, 6 Wall Street, Passaic. Interment to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
