It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Syl” Sylvia H. Bain (nee Couser). She passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Hospice of Cincinnati. She will forever be 69 years old.
Beloved daughter of Barbara “Gigi” and Donald Couser.
Preceded in death by her husband, John A. Bain, and their many dogs. She had a passion for rescuing dogs who needed extra love and care. She also had a love of helping her family and friends.
She was an amazing mom to Melissa and mother-in-law to Eric, whom she called perfect. For many years, Syl and Melissa would see plays at the Aronoff together. If she didn’t fall asleep, she said it was a good one.
She was an amazing mamaw to Cole, her pride and joy. She and Cole shared a love for The Children’s Theater when he was younger and attended many plays together. One of their other favorite things to do together was to go to El Rancho Grande. She always ordered extra queso for her Coleman.
She is survived by her brother, Eric, and sister-in-law, Jane. She is also survived by her nephew Ryan, whom she adored. Even though they lived hundreds of miles apart, their bond was so strong. Ryan loves his Aunt Sylvia.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jan Kindig, also known as “Sylvia’s assistant,” and her niece Lauren and nephew Josh (Caryl). Jan and Syl went to many lunches together and to countless doctor’s appointments. Syl was Jan’s sidekick, or passenger princess, in the passenger seat. Jan was also by her side many days in the hospital.
She is survived by her dear friends Donna Lewis and Maureen O’Brien. Donna, Maureen, and Syl loved to go on lunch dates and sometimes movie dates. Sylvia cherished those dates and looked forward to them. When Syl was in the hospital, her friends were there, right with her.
She is preceded in death by her best friend Pam Gausepohl. They shared a love of dogs and Toby Keith! They are now jamming with him up in heaven.
A memorial gathering will take place at Radel Funeral Home on Saturday September 27, 2025 from 11am until the time of the memorial service at 1pm
