Sylvia Aline Corbin

Sylvia Aline Corbin, also known as Sugar, passed away on November 21, 2023, at the age of 78 in Springfield, MO. She was born on October 8, 1945, to Walter and Sylvia Schmitt.
Sugar was a kind and generous person who always gave her time to others. She never met a stranger and was known for her creative spirit. She had a passion for quilting and was a very creative quilter. Sugar was also an avid bowler and served on the Greater Springfield USBC Board of Directors for many years. Her dedication to the sport led her to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. She also volunteered for many years at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.
In retirement, Sugar loved to travel. She made many trips to Europe and found a love for cruising. She loved adventures and seeing new places with her best friends, Cynthia Metz and Anne Gonten, affectionately known as "Three Broads Abroad". The "Broads" loved their lunch dates and Mexican food and Margaritas!
In her professional life, Sylvia worked at GMAC for 20 years. Her hard work and dedication made a lasting impact on her colleagues where she maintained many lifelong friendships after retirement.
Sugar is survived by her son, Shane, and his wife Rachel. She was a loving Nanna to Emma, Allie, and Ella. Sugar also leaves behind several cousins who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Sylvia Schmitt, and her brother, James Schmitt.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, at Greenlawn East Funeral Home from 10:00 to 12:00. A service will immediately follow. Interment will follow at Robberson Prairie Cemetery north of Springfield, off Highway 13.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Greater Springfield USBC Youth Scholarship Fund in memory of Sylvia. Your generosity will support young bowlers in their pursuit of education and bowling excellence.
