Celebrating The Homegoing of
Sylvia Falls
Sylvia Kerns Falls, was born on October 5th 1940 in New Orleans Louisiana to Ethel Mary Abrah Kerns and Calvin Kerns senior.
She was the fourth of five children born to this union. Calvin Jr, Virgin, Melva May, Sylvia, and Cynthia. Sylvia loved her sisters and brother deeply. She shared a strong bond with each of them and often shared stories from their childhood.
As a child she watched her parents work hard. She would help her mother clean and cook. She helped care for her baby sister and her two first born nieces.
Sylvia loved and adored her parents She would reminisce and share loving stories about her upbringing.
Sylvia attended schools in New Orleans Louisiana She was in the choir and a faithful member of Genesis missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans Louisiana. She worked in home nursing care along with her mother. Sylvia married Philip Falls II from that union they had five children. Margie, Darnell, Phillip III, Cary and Shirlyn. Sylvia separated from Phillip Falls II before his passing. She worked hard to take care of her five children with the love and support from her parents, siblings and father in law. Sylvia moved to Denver Colorado in 1979. She worked at Rose Medical Center and later got hired on with Denver public schools administration, She then worked for Denver public schools where she retired. She was a faithful member as well as usher board member and treasurer of Divine Baptist Church. She devoted her life to God in Christ she remained strong in her faith through all The ups and downs through out her life.
Sylvia cared for her mother In her elderly years until she passed in 2002. She also helped care for her grandchildren and and later her great-grandchildren. She was always there for her family and friends when in need. Sylvia showed us all the true definition of walking with Christ. She will be deeply missed.
She's proceeded in death by her husband Phillip Falls II, her children Margie Falls Collins, Darnell Falls Pembrook, Phillip Falls III. Grandchildren Hermon Pembrook Jr, Jamie Singleton, Tamarah Pembrook, Sascha Falls, Cary Hughes, and Tyre Falls. Her siblings Virgin and Calvin Kerns Jr. Grandparents Joseph and Elizabeth Abrah, and Cicely Murphy- Kerns and Albert Joseph Kerns jr, Her niece Carlene Coleman. Two great nephews Haison Williams and William Pope Jr. Best friend/Aunt Joyce Williams and Some of her closest sisters and brothers through Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory her Children Cary (Cherita Taylor) Falls and Shirlyn (Eugene Russell) Falls of Denver, CO. Her sisters Melva Delille of Aurora CO, Cynthia (Alton) Coleman of New Orleans LA, Her grandchildren Cory (Kim) Pembrook of Jackson MS, Keisha, Kevin (Kemi), and Pamela Watkins all of Fayetteville NC, Cha Falls of Sanford NC, Laron Taylor, Jehrone Falls, and Eugene Russell jr all of Aurora CO, Samaria Russell of Denver CO, and MarShawn Loyd of Shreveport LA. 16 great granddaughters, 11 great grandsons four great great grandsons and four great great granddaughters, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, her sister in Christ Brenda Toliver and a host of family friends.
