Rockton, IL - We celebrate the life of Sylvia Jean Frank, a woman who embodied an adventurous spirit and a humble heart, who passed away on January 20, 2026. Born on September 16, 1936, in
Beloit, WI, Sylvia lived a vibrant life, full of love, laughter, and the pursuit of joy. Throughout her life, she was known for her thoughtful kindness and the loyalty she bestowed upon her friends, family, and beloved cats.
Sylvia's life was marked by her dedication to her career at United Tool & Engineering where she served as an Office Manager until her retirement in 2005. Yet, it was her hobbies that truly defined her spirit. Sylvia had an adventurous zest for life and a penchant for fun. Whether she was meticulously arranging pieces in a puzzle, crafting with her crochet needles, dealing a hand of cards, or embarking on a shopping spree, Sylvia embraced each moment with gusto. Her love for travel took her to the most beautiful corners of the world, but it was camping at Pearl Lake that she loved the most. Sylvia's loyalty to her roots was evident in her lifelong residence in
Rockton, IL. She graduated from Hononegah High School in 1954. She was also renowned for her culinary skills, particularly her seven-layered salad and Christmas cookies, a testament to her thoughtful nature.
Sylvia was a beacon of love and commitment to her family. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa (special friend, Frank Pluhm) McKnight and Tina (Dee) Walker, her sister Kaye Fullerton, her niece LeaAnne (Steve) Paskvalich, her nephew Scott (Nancy) Fullerton, her step-grandsons Dane and Garrett (Lexi) Frank, her step-daughter-in-law, Nancy Frank, her step-great-grandsons Logan and Landon Frank, and her special cat, Coco Chanel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Frank, parents, Walter and Wilma Hilker, and her step-son Lorin Frank, son-in-law, Tom McKnight, and life-long best friend, Karen Slocum.
In the words of Mark Twain, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Sylvia lived this advice to its fullest, continually seeking out new adventures and experiences. Her humble, thoughtful, and loyal nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
