Sylvia Epperly Isley, 74, was called home by the Lord on June 23, 2025. She was a generous, devoted, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her loving family surrounded her during her transition to her Sabbath rest. Sylvia was a native of Burlington, North Carolina and is preceded in death by her father and mother, James “Jim” and Dorothy “Dot” Epperly; her husband Charles “Danny” Isley; and Ronnie Epperly, her older brother.
Sylvia was a faithful member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church in Graham, NC, where she ensured her children received a solid Christian foundation. She volunteered her time helping cook at Camp Deer Lake and worked in the nursery at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church. She was a faithful and committed prayer warrior, often encouraging her children to “pray about it.” She retired from the Alamance-Burlington School System, where she spent most of her career at E.M. Holt Elementary School. She enjoyed quilting, traveling to events with her grandchildren, and spending time with each of them. Sylvia and Danny devoted their lives to their children, taking them to Little League ball games, playing badminton, and ensuring “family time,” including board games.
Sylvia is survived by her brothers Dennis “Wayne” Epperly of High Point, NC, and Gary “Dale” Epperly of Roanoke, VA; her daughter, Amber (Russell) Clemmer, and son, Reverend Kevin (Nichole) Isley. Sylvia had seven grandchildren: Nathan (fiancé Victoria) Clemmer, Hope (fiancé Jaymen) Clemmer by Amber and Russell; Jacob and Oliver Isley by Kevin and Nichole; Hunter and Bailey Isley and Olivia Brown by son Jason Isley.
The family will receive visits at Sylvia and Danny’s home. Visitation will be at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. The funeral will be held afterwards with the Reverend Brandon Rouse presiding at 11 a.m., and the interment at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family wishes that flowers be sent to Lowe Funeral Home, and memorials may be made to Andrews Memorial Baptist Church at 301 W. Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253, for a child without the financial need to attend a week of camp at Camp Deer Lake.
