Sylvia Christian Jourdan passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 in Covington. She was 92.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. "Junior" Jourdan, Jr., her parents, Tony and Bonnie Christian, and her siblings, Helen Beaver and Robert Christian. She is survived by her son, William A. Jourdan (Gail), her grandson, Zachary E. Jourdan (Alaina) and her three great-grandchildren, Grady James Jourdan, Grand Marie Jourdan and Gabriel John Jourdan.
Sylvia worked for the St Tammany School Board for over 30 years. During that time, she was an active member of the Business and Professional Women's organization. She was also a very involved member of the First Baptist Church of Covington. She belonged to the Lydia Ladies Sunday School class. We would like to thank those ladies for being so supportive of Sylvia until the very end. We are sure she appreciated them, too.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Covington, 16054 Murphy Road, Covington, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Bogue Falaya Baptist Church Cemetery in Folsom, LA.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and employees of St Tammany Parish Hospital for the care Sylvia received during her final days. We also want to thank the inpatient Hospice caregivers, and also a heartfelt thanks to Trellis Harvey.
