Funeral services for Sylvia Long will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 2 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Cumberland and Bro. Chris Long officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 5 until 7 p.m. from McClain-Hays Funeral Home.
Mrs. Long, 65, of Philadelphia passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Sylvia was a native of Winston County and lived in Neshoba County for the past 25 years. She worked for the Neshoba Central school system in the cafeteria for several years until she had to leave due to her health. She loved to cook for her family and spend quality time with them, especially her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Long was a member of Longino Baptist Church and attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Randy Long of Philadelphia; daughters, Candy Cumberland (Bobby) of Philadelphia, Sandy Long (Jordan Hancock) of Philadelphia and Bridget Creekmore of Louisville; grandchildren, Colston, Kaylee and Maddox Cumberland, Mitchell and Josheph Bounds; great-grandchildren, Jade, Bentley and Ensley Bullok sisters, Linda Christian and Diane McGee, both of Louisville; a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents, Lamont and Audrey Nowell; grandson, Christopher Lane Bounds.
Pallbearers: Chris Long, Colston Cumberland, Mitchell Bounds, Josheph Bounds, Justin Long and Michael Pettey.
Honorary Pallbearer: Maddox Cumberland.
