Sylvia Joan Schreib

Sylvia Joan Schreib (1934-2025) LAKELAND, Fla. - Sylvia Joan Schreib (née Pearson), 91, left her earthy body to join her Heavenly Father and entered into eternal peace on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland. She was surrounded by family, friends and loved ones, and remained full of humor and joy until the very end. Sylvia was born in Chapin, NY on May 19, 1934 and attended Canandaigua, NY schools, where she graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1952. After high school, she married her sweetheart Ken and began a family in Bloomfield, NY-moving to Lima a few years later. Sylvia spent many decades as a staff member at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School before she and Ken retired to Lakeland, Fla., where they spent their remaining years. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Carol Smith in 2023; her husband of 63 years, Kenneth George Schreib, in 2016; mother, Irene Pearson (née Buck), in 1990; and father, Paul Pearson, in 1979. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Tom) Wisnieski; son Kevin (Mary) Schreib; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and countless dear friends and loved ones. Some of Sylvia's favorite activities included baking, sewing, reading and playing the organ. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was also an active member of her church and community, a volunteer at her local library, and a cherished soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held in Sylvia's memory at 1 p.m. on September 21, 2025 in the Cypress Room at Cypress Lakes Resort, 10000 US Highway 98 N in Lakeland.
