Sylvia Swarey Obituary
Sylvia was born in Dover, Delaware to John G. Byler and Mattie A. Byler on March 23rd, 1939. She was a devoted wife and mother who successfully raised two boys. While her full time job was lovingly managing her household, she also enjoyed quilting and sewing, making clothing for her sons when they were younger. She will be remembered for her faithfulness to her faith, her family and her church, Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and an infant granddaughter, Emily Swarey.
Sylvia is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Allen H. Swarey of Stuarts Draft; her two sons, Merle J. Swarey with wife Tonya of Waynesboro, and Benjamin A. Swarey with wife Christine of Crimora. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Seth Swarey and Derick Swarey, as well as a large extended family.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, January 15th, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship with Pastor Bruce Swartz and Pastor Brett Perrett officiating. Following the service, Sylvia will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Merle Swarey, Benjamin Swarey, Seth Swarey, Derick Swarey, Paul Swarey and Lyndon Swarey.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution in Sylvia's name to Hospice of the Shenandoah.
