Evelyn Mae Smith Bailey, 68, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her residence in Stuarts Draft.
She was born on February 18, 1958, in Russellville, Kentucky to the late Everett Paul and Maybell Stanley Smith.
Evelyn will be remembered most for the love and devotion she gave to her family.
Above all else, she was most proud of the life she built with her husband, Richard Bailey. They shared forty-eight years of marriage before his passing on November 19, 2025. Their long marriage was a testament of enduring love, selflessness and one of the most important parts of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Shawnta Bailey Terry; her sons, Richard Bailey, Jr. and Joseph Bailey; her stepdaughter, Felicia Bailey; her nine grandchildren, Austin, Cynthia, Kayla, Isabella, Karah, Ryleigh, Adyson, Cade and Kane; her eight great grandchildren, Sophia, Analae, Niklaus, Carter, Cooper, Katana, Eliana and Phoenixx - all of which held a very special place in her heart.
A Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on March 14th, 2026, at Ray of Hope Church (1450 Reservoir St. Harrisonburg, VA 22801).
Please send flowers to Shawnta Terry (1956 Lough Rd. Elkton, VA 22827), as the church is unable to sign for them.
