Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel HillOn March 1, 2026 Paul Stuart Bailey was called home by God, through the grace and to the glory of our Lord Jesus. From early childhood Paul lived his life with passion, imagination, and infinite curiosity. As an adult, despite his struggle with a major mental illness, Paul continued to live with courage, determination, and humor. He read voraciously across a wide range of subjects including the history of submarines, our solar system, the crafting of musical instruments, the architecture of temples and cathedrals. He loved the King James Version of the Bible. He knew the liner notes from a large collection of rock n roll and other genres of music, and he enjoyed playing a variety of instruments, most recently the soprano and alto recorders.
Paul loved to talk and ask questions about any topic. He was loyal and generous to his friends and family. Paul was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Juanita Bailey. He is survived by his devoted siblings, brother Bruce Bailey and sister Rebecca Bailey, and her husband Ray Dooley, along with an extended family of uncle, aunt, and cousins. The family is grateful to the Yanceyville Rehab and Nursing Home, and to the dedicated caregivers who tended to Paul in his last 8 months of life. The family also thanks Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill for final arrangements.
Paul’s funeral service will be held on April 29 at 3 pm, at the Chapel of the Cross, 304 East Franklin St, Chapel Hill NC.
