Sylvia Carole Thomas

Sylvia Carole Thomas, 91, of Cotati, California passed away peacefully in her home on February 15, 2026. Born on June 12th 1934 in El Cerrito, California, Sylvia moved with her parents (Frank Victor De Cambra and Madeline Cassetta, deceased) and brother (Robert Victor, deceased) to Cotati in 1948. She attended Petaluma High School, graduating with the class of 1952.

A lifelong resident of Cotati, Sylvia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother who found her greatest joy in family. She was known for her warm laughter, love of music, and passion for singing– a gift she shared freely with those around her. A parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church, Sylvia also enjoyed social gatherings, where her spirit and love for conversation brightened any room.

Sylvia delighted in musicals, adored dogs, and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home was always filled in the summer with the sounds of children playing in “Nana’s” pool.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Thomas. She is survived by her daughters, Sheri Hubley, Jaclyn O’Brien-Gill, and Lisa Thomas, as well as seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was the true center of a large and loving family spanning several generations.

Sylvia was deeply loved and she will be missed by all who knew her. A rosary will be held Thursday February 19th at 5pm at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Private graveside interment. Donations may be made in her honor to Providence Hospice Sonoma County.
