Wayne Nicholas Van Patten, Jr. passed away at home on January 28, 2026, at the age of 76, after many years living with Parkinson’s disease. Wayne was born in San Mateo, California, to the late Wayne and Marjorie Van Patten. Due to Wayne Sr.’s military career, the family moved throughout the country until his early passing, after which Marjorie returned to her hometown of Petaluma to raise the boys with the support of family. The cross-country drives during those years helped shape Wayne’s deep and lasting love for all things automotive. Wayne lived in Petaluma from the age of ten and graduated from Petaluma High School in 1967. Wayne started in the grocery business while in high school and retired after a full career in 2001. Following retirement, Wayne and friends John and Joetta Furrer and Rich Poremba formed a nonprofit organization in Petaluma. 'Cruisin’ The Boulevard' became his focus during retirement until his resignation due to advancing Parkinson’s. Wayne was married to his wife, Rhonda, for 53 years. He is survived by his daughter, Traci Van Patten (James King), and granddaughter, Josie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Marjorie Van Patten, and his brother, Kenneth. Rock Steady Boxing became a place where Wayne enjoyed spending time with his friends while participating in a fitness program designed to help people with Parkinson's improve their strength, balance, and coordination. Wayne's love for family, friends, and cars never wavered. Wayne will be missed by all. A Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date.
