Sylvia Ann Thomspon

Sylvia Ann Ray Thompson, age 79 of the Pleasant Plains Community in Whiteville, entered into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Sylvia was born on May 11, 1943, in Wilmington, NC, to the late John Emerson Ray and Ida Clemmons Ray. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Wayne Ray, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Speight and Rev. D Page officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.
The family will have visitation from 5:00-6:15 on Tuesday evening, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Sylvia was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Whiteville, where she served as secretary/treasurer, and coordinator of the senior citizen ministries. Mrs. Thompson also had a deep love for children.
Survivors include her loving husband, James A. Thompson of the home; daughter, Phyllis McInnis (Jan Hinton) of Wilmington; "adopted" daughter, Rhonda Page (D Page); "adopted" grandchild, Noah Page; nephews, David Wayne Ray, Jr. and Johnathan Mark Ray.
