Obituary
Sylvia J. Williams, the daughter of the late Velma Prince and Will Prince was born November 26, 1944, in Drew, Mississippi. She departed this life March 2, 2023, peacefully at Memorial Hospital.
Sylvia attended Drew High School and married Wash Williams in Greenville, Mississippi. She remained a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church until the time of her passing. Sylvia was a homemaker and mother of two. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Wash Williams; mother, Velma Prince; father, Will prince; daughter, Angeline Williams; two brothers, William Charles Gardner, and George Willie Gardner.
Sylvia is survived by one son, Mark Williams: three sisters, sister and bestfriend Lillie Mae Wells of South Bend, Indiana, Jeannie (Ollie) Ray and Thelma (Lonnie Sr.) Johnson both of Greenville, MS; three brothers, James (Maggie) Bernard Gardner, Pastor Herbert (Karen) Prince Sr. both of Bradenton, Florida and Selma Allen Sr. of Greenville, MS; and one sister-in-law, Linda Williams of Greenville, MS. She is also a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Sylvia has two special nieces, Rose Redding and Velma Tyce of South Bend, Indiana and will truly be missed by a host of family and friends.
Services for Sister Williams will be held on Saturday March 11, 2023; 12 Noon at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 S. St. Joseph Street, South Bend, Indiana 46613.Pastor Ricardo Taylor will bring the word. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. Burial will be held at Monday 13, 2022 at 12 Noon at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary Inc.
