Sylvia Faye Turner Wright was born on July 18, 1926 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to Sam and Maggie Turner. She passed away on October 18, 2025 at the age of 99.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, in the Couch Chapel Parlor of First Methodist Church of Shreveport followed by a memorial service at 11:00 in Couch Chapel. Officiating the service will be Dr. Pat Day and Rev. Kathy Wafer.

After graduating Fairview High School at the age of 16, Sylvia moved to Beaumont, Texas to attend business school. Upon completion, she moved to Shreveport and began working for Delta Airlines where she met her husband, Bill, who was a pilot. Years later, they started a land development and home building company known as Wright Properties. Throughout the years Sylvia managed their company with her keen, conservative business sense. She later obtained her real estate license and began selling homes her husband built. In the later years she continued real estate work for Louisiana Companies and Yearwood LeSage.

A faithful member of First Methodist Church, Shreveport, Sylvia served on numerous boards and committees through the years. She was an active member of the Gleaner's Sunday school class, which later merged with other classes. Sylvia's strong Christian faith was the framework that carried her throughout her entire life.

Sylvia was a devoted member of a local support group and impacted countless others with her wisdom and perspective, making lifelong friends in the process. She also enjoyed her volunteer work including working many years in the gift shop at The Glen.

Sylvia epitomized grace, dignity and strength. She was known for her loyalty, generosity, determination, along with the love and support she showed family and friends. Not only was she a constant to many, she led by example. She was an excellent cook and loved to watch all sports, especially football. Her competitive side was evident during her weekly Rummikub games with friends. She always enjoyed having her granddaughter and great-grandchildren fill in to play as needed.

Sylvia leaves a lasting legacy of wonderful qualities and memories that will live on through all of those who loved her.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geraldine "Gerry" Greene and Nelladeane "Nell" Viniard; and brother, Samuel "Huey" Turner.
Husband, William "Bill" Carter Wright; sons, Richard Carter Wright and Ronald David Wright.

Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughter, Kelly Wright Salter and husband Tom; great-grandson, Peyton Thomas Salter and great-granddaughter, Paige Kelly Salter all of Shreveport, LA; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff who provided loving care over the last year at The Glen "Cottages", as well as LifePath Hospice.
Additionally, the unwavering love and support from Sylvia's dear friend, Kathy Williams, along with many others will be cherished forever.
