T. Michael Luke, 79, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones during his peaceful transition to the best party ever. He was born on October 10, 1946, in Valdosta to the late Olan H. and Sophia Holtzclaw Luke. Mr. Luke was a retired clothier and a member of Park Avenue Church of over 50 years. He was a graduate of Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in English and was graduated from Albany State University in Albany, Georgia with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He was a founder and subsequent president of the North Valdosta Rotary Club, President of the Georgia Menswear Retailers Association, taught Sunday school lessons to many classes including his home class of the Grace Dennis Young Adult Class at Park Avenue Church. Mr. Luke was also a volunteer chaplain for South Georgia Medical Center, volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, underpinning his commitment to his community, his church, and his family that remained unwavering.
Mr. Luke is survived by his wife of 57 years, Floye Spencer Luke of Valdosta; his children and their spouses Thomas Michael Luke, Jr. (Todd) and Ralitsa Dobrev of Richmond Hill, Georgia, F. Spencer Luke of Savannah, Georgia, Sarah and Steve Osborne of Nashville, Georgia, Jennifer and Scott Jagielski of Valdosta, Renee Jordan of Pensacola, Florida, Jackson Luke of Orlando, Florida; his grandchildren, Arabi, Bay, Aubree, Luke, Kalina, Nia, EmmaRae, Julie, Kayla, Gavin, Gabe, Zoe and Jaden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brother, Jerry Luke.
A memorial service for T. Michael Luke will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Park Avenue Church with Rev. Jimmy Towson, Rev. David Tart, and Rev. Jamie Bone officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annette Howell Turner Arts Center, The Lowndes County Historical Society, or Park Avenue Church.
