Tadeusz Menert Obituary

Published by Macy Allnutt Funeral Service-Eaton Chapel on May 26, 2010.
Tadeusz (Tad) Adam Menert, of Fort Collins passed away at home with family by his bedside after an 8 year battle with cancer. Tad was born on December 1, 1958, in Skarzysko-Kamienna, Poland. He graduated in 1981 from Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland with a Master Degree in English. He taught English at The Jagiellonian University from 1982-1986. Tad and his wife Jolanta along with son Michal immigrated to the US in 1987 where he worked as a librarian at the Larimer County Detention Center for 21 years. In 2002, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He resigned in 2009 due to his illness and was on disability for over a year. Despite years of illness and numerous treatments, Tad continued to use his talents and live a fulfilling life. Throughout his life he immersed himself in many subjects including photography, music, woodworking, literature, and electronics. He was also passionate about computer technology, translating books, and writing poetry. Tad possessed a strong connection with nature and pursued numerous outdoor activities. He always kept his head high, had a positive attitude, a great sense of humor, and never gave up. A role model for all who loved him, Tad showed us all that no task is too great to conquer. Tad is survived by his wife Jolanta, son Michal, brother Tom, sister-in-law Barbara, nieces Natalia and Pamela, all of Fort Collins, Colorado. He is also survived by his father Ireneusz Menert, and sister Maria Jastrzebska-Menert, of Krakow, Poland. Tad will forever remain in the hearts of his friends and family. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 West Drake Road in Fort Collins. Tad always believed in the importance of a college education. To carry out his dream, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Jolanta Menert for the benefit of the Tad Menert Scholarship Fund in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 West Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
