Takvor Takvorian Obituary

TAKVOR TAKVORIAN

July 1, 1933 – June 19, 2025

Escondido – On June 19, 2025, Takvor ("Tak") Takvorian passed away at the age of 91 in Escondido, CA.

Tak was born on July 1, 1933, in Bulgaria to Agop and Hripsime Takvorian. When Tak was one year old, they immigrated to New York City. After Agop's death, Tak and his mother moved to California's Central Valley, where his mother remarried.

Tak graduated from Dinuba High in 1951. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he returned to California and attended the College of the Sequoias, where he met Bonnie Yocham. They married in 1956.

Tak earned a teaching degree at Fresno State, then worked for 33 years as a science teacher at Sierra Junior High in Bakersfield. He also taught night school civics classes to immigrants and worked in the summer as a grape inspector.

Tak leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Takvorian, his sons Kirk & Terry, his daughter-in-law Mary Williams, his cousin Krikor Dolmian, Krikor's wife Yolanda, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his stepfather Krikor Khachigian and his second stepfather Tommy Keyishian.

Tak was an avid golfer and gardener, and he enjoyed international travel with friends and family. With Bonnie, he also loved entertaining friends and family for home holiday feasts and parties. Tak will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his lively storytelling, and his sense of humor.

A viewing will be held at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia at 3:30 pm on July 20, 2025. The funeral will be at 9:30 am on July 21, 2025, also at Salser & Dillard, followed by burial at the Visalia Public Cemetery at 11:00 am.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I would like you to know that Mr. Takvorian was a wonderful teacher. He was my science teacher at Sierra Jr. High. Besides making my worse subject very interesting he was very kind and funny. It was an honor to know him and it gives me joy to know he lived a full and happy inch life. God bless.

Mr Takvorian worked for my family during our grape harvest for several years. He was such a nice man. Coach Gerry Collis also worked for us and he and Tak used to argue who had the biggest nose. As I recall a measuring tape was brought out one day and I believe Tak was the winner. Great memories. My condolences to his family.
