Sister Talithea Arlette McHenry, daughter of Sister DeWanda J. McHenry and the late Brother Ralph McHenry, was born April 7, 1981, in El Paso, Texas. Talithea attended El Dorado schools and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1999. She achieved her Bachelor of Science degree in the Department of Human Resources at Henderson State University in 2003. While attending HSU, she became a member of the Iota Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Talithea furthered her education by obtaining her Master's degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2005.
Talithea worked tirelessly in the places she loved. Whatever she tackled, she gave it her all! Her career took her to many places, but what she enjoyed most was being at home near her family and loved ones.
Talithea's favorite pastime was spending time with her best friend Ruth, sharing moments of fun, laughter, and shopping!
When it came to working at Saint Vestal Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Talithea was very serious about doing her Father's work! Talithea's love for the Lord was evident at an early age. She was the "Song Bird" of the South! God gave her many talents to use in His house. Talithea loved singing His praises!!!
Among her roles within the church, Talithea served as Vice President of the choir, Secretary for the Board of Christian Education, a Trustee, Director of the Board of Evangelism, and a willing servant of the Lord.
Talithea was preceded in death by her father, Ralph McHenry, and brother Nicholas McHenry. Sis. Talithea McHenry leaves to cherish her memory her mother, DeWanda J. McHenry; brother, Thomas A. Smith (Tyqwanda); Aunt Minnie F. Springer; Aunt Linda F. Gafford; a niece, Shavaughn Jackson; a nephew, Thomas A. Smith Jr.; and a host of cousins, family, friends, and St. Vestal C.M.E. Church Family.
