Tamara McAfee Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 14, 2026.
Tamara Taylor McAfee, age 67, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away on January 10, 2026. She was married to her husband, Brian McAfee, for 36 years. The two met in 1989 in Burnsville while working at Knox lumber, where she worked for 15 years before deciding to change professions.

From there, she studied and worked hard to become a nurse. With her high intelligence and eye for detail, a career in nursing came easy for her. She retired in 2020 after 25 years of nursing. Most of that time was spent at Minnesota Masonic Nursing Home in Bloomington, Minnesota. She loved caring for her patients in transitional care and loved to see them heal, become well, and go home to their families.

Tammy loved her 3 dogs of many years Kaycee, Bailey and Mia. They are waiting for her at the rainbow bridge.

Tammy's hobbies included music, dancing, jewelry making, reading, movies, home decorating, and waterskiing. She loved watching the Hallmark Channel and found it to be very nostalgic and comforting.

She is survived by her loving husband Brian McAfee; Sisters Brenda (Greg) Stommes, Missy (Al) Geis; Nephews T.J. (Meghan) Stommes, Lucas Geis; Nieces Kennedy (Cameron) Klehr and Chloe Geis; Aunt Pam (Larry) Boltz; Uncle Skip (Renee) Davis; and many wonderful colleagues and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Marlene Greening; Grandparents Marvin and Evelyn Davis and Uncle Randy Davis.

No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Tammy's name to Benedictine or your local ASPCA chapter.

A special thank you to everyone who supported her during her health journey. Your love and kindness truly meant the world to Tammy.

Tammy was such a wonderful and vibrant woman. I worked with her for years on TCU at the Masonic Home. She had an exceptional sense of humor and such a heart for caring for her patients. I am so sorry for your loss.
