Tammy Lynn Armstrong passed away on January 13, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia. Born on November 30, 1962, she was the daughter of James Leon Dixon and Linda Baden. She is survived by her husband, Joel Scott Armstrong, of Alexandria, Virginia, daughters Jessica Lynn Armstrong and Samantha Jaimes Armstrong of Alexandria, Virginia, and sister Terri Irene Dixon of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, James Leon ("Jimmy") Dixon, Jr., in 2002. She grew up in Upper Marlboro, Maryland graduating from Gwynn Park High School, class of 1980.
Tammy began her career working at The Library of Congress, in Washington, D.C., a job that she fondly looked back on throughout her life. She then moved into the legal profession, as a Secretary at the firm of Watt Tieder Hoffar & Fitzgerald LLP, and then as a Patent Secretary for various firms including Birch Stewart Kolasch & Birch LLP and Oliff & Berridge, where she met her future husband and soulmate Joel. Tammy married Joel Scott Armstrong in Alexandria, Virginia at Christ Church in 1997. Tammy "retired" from work in 2003 upon the birth of her first daughter Jessica, and thereafter maintained a loving home for her dear family and her cat "Kitty Cally."
Tammy loved the beach, and she and Joel and their children spent many vacations in Ocean City, Virginia Beach, the Dominican Republic, and cruising the Caribbean. Tammy was also the life of the party when gathering with friends. But she loved her home more. Tammy was content and perfectly happy staying at home, raising her children, watching movies, reading books, cheering on her beloved Washington Redskins/Commanders, and later, crocheting.
