Our hearts are broken as we share that Tammy Rene Hyche Grace, 65, of Brookwood, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Tammy was born on August 27, 1960, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Bon and Bobbie Hyche. She spent her life in Brookwood, surrounded by family, friends, and the small-town community she loved so much.
Tammy began dating Gary Grace in high school where she was a majorette, and he was a football player. High-school sweethearts, they married in 1982 and shared a beautiful life for 43 years. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother to Morgan Alise Grace, her pride and joy and the light of her world.
Tammy was also a devoted sister to Terri Hyche and Tracy Hyche, (Stacey) and a loving aunt to her niece and nephew (Hayden and Haley), whom she adored as if they were her own. Her great-niece and great-nephews held a special place in her heart as she loved them dearly and took great joy in being part of their lives. Her family was everything to her, and she never missed an opportunity to show how much she cared.
Tammy worked at the mines of Jim Walter Resources for 17 years, earning the respect and friendship of so many along the way. A breast cancer survivor, she faced life's challenges with incredible strength, courage, and a smile that could light up any room.
She was full of life, compassion, and warmth. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger. Tammy loved her family, her dogs, and her community, and she gave her heart freely to all three. Passionate for her hometown, she worked on the Brookwood Park Board where she developed the Brookwood Town Park's playground and hosted many community events. Her laughter, kindness, and the way she made everyone feel like family will never be forgotten.
Though our hearts ache, we find comfort knowing that her love will live on in all of us in every story, every smile, and every memory she leaves behind.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Bro. Tony Boyd officiating and burial to follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Tammy, please visit our floral store.
