Tandy C. Walker of Arlington, Texas, passed away at his home on January 23, 2026, at the age of 91.
Tandy was born on December 5, 1934, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to T.C. and Christi Mae Walker. The family spent much of their time in Wyoming and Montana where Tandy was raised before moving back to Oklahoma.
Tandy attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Aeronautical Engineering degrees in 1958 and 1959. Upon graduating, Tandy came to Texas where he developed weapon systems for the strategic and tactical defense of the United States throughout his 34-year engineering career. Tandy was a professional engineer in the state of Texas since 1962, and a graduate of the Defense Management College at the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C., in 1984. Tandy retired from the Missiles & Space Division of Loral Vought Systems (formerly the LTV Aerospace & Defense Company) on March 31, 1993. At his retirement, Tandy was presented with the “Commander’s Award for Public Service” by Army Major General Peter McVey.
Tandy was a member of Fielder Road Baptist Church, Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 438, Fort Worth’s Scottish Rite 32° Consistory Mason, and Fort Worth’s Moslah Shrine.
From the time he was a young child, Tandy loved airplanes. He was a private pilot and built his own experimental aircraft. But his real passion was model airplanes. Tandy was a lifelong model builder and competitive flyer. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the National Free Flight Society, and the Society of Antique Modelers (SAM). Tandy was inducted into the SAM Hall of Fame on October 11, 2013.
Tandy married Sue Ann Johnson Browne on June 13, 1987, and they shared a wonderful and loving 38-year marriage. Tandy lived a rich, full life, had a fantastic sense of humor, and was (and will be) cherished dearly by family and friends.
Tandy was preceded in death by his adoring parents T.C. and Christi Mae Walker.
Tandy is survived by his loving wife, Sue of Arlington, Texas; his daughter, Tia Charisse Whinery (Shelby Whinery) of Colleyville, Texas; his son, Tandy Cy Walker (Cheryl Walker) of Fairfax Station, Virginia; his stepdaughter, Kathy S. Hanson (David Hanson) of Cedar Hill, Texas; his stepson, Richard B. Browne (Andrea Browne) of Kemah, Texas; five grandchildren, Colton Walker, Taylor Walker, Kristin Black (Joshua Black), Michael Hanson (Elizabeth Hanson), and Stephen Hanson (Monica Hanson); and four great-grandchildren.
Tandy’s visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2026, at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas, from 11am to 1pm, to be immediately followed by the funeral service at 1pm. The graveside service and interment will be Monday, February 2, 2026, at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas, at 3pm.
We invite all those who knew and loved Tandy to join us in remembering a man who brought so much laughter and love into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tandy’s memory to Mission Arlington.
Rest in peace, dear Tandy; your spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
