Tara Denise McCreery, 68, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at her residence.
Born November 1, 1955, in Madison, she was the daughter of the late Robert Eugene McCreery and the Ellen Louise (Hammersley) Gatrell.
Tara owned EST (Exterior Specialty Systems) and was a goal driven individual who held many service jobs. She bred and showed rabbits and was a Jehovah's Witness. Tara loved all animals especially her cat, Amanda, singing, playing piano, and writing songs and poems. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to radio shows, and watching old westerns. Tara loved going on her annual trip to Minnesota with her mom and sister.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Cone of Columbus and Samuel Cone of Ypsilanti, Michigan; her daughters, Sara (Ryan) Bales of Scottsburg and Rachel (Hezekiah) Barnes of Louisville, Kentucky; brother, Johnny (Brooke) Gatrell of North Vernon; sisters, Laura (Roger) James and Johna (Tommy) Palmer, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Cameron Davidson of Seymour, Drew (Brooke) Davidson, Maisie Jarvis, and Logan Jarvis, all of North Vernon, Gavin Gunn of North Carolina, Jordan Cone of Butlerville, Issrael Cone of Columbus, and Uriah Barnes, Malachi Barnes, Zechariah Barnes, Judah Barnes, Eliana Barnes, and Liam Barnes, all of Louisville, Kentucky; and great-grandchildren, Arabella Rose Marie Davidson of Seymour, and Brysun Davidson and Braxton Davidson, both of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark McCreery.
A funeral service for Tara will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Tara through the funeral home for expenses.
