Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Tawanna A. Austin-Smith was born on October 20, 1963, in Folkston, GA to Elizabeth Nixon and Lee Austin, both of which preceded her in death.

She attended Suwannee High School, and after which she advanced her education to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Savannah, GA. She loved taking care of and helping everyone in her professional life, as well as personal. She was a devoted member of Abundant Life Deliverance Center

She was called home by the Lord on June 1, 2025, leaving behind a loving husband, Thaxter Smith. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Erica Roberts in 2008, three brothers, Darrell Austin, Tony Austin, and Jim Jones, Sr. She has two living brothers, Richard Austin, and Curtis Nixon (Andrea). She has one living sister, Georgetta Biffle. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Annette Davis. She was also preceded in death by a godsister, Barbara Burke, and two friends, Gayle Tillman, Diane Brown. Her surviving children are Shomico Plummer, Lakisha Austin, RaShanda Jones, Ebony Austin, Julius Austin, and Edward Arkeem Roberts. She cherished all 28 of her grandkids, and 8 great-grands, along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and godchildren that adored and will dearly miss her daily.

A Celebration of her Life will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
