It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tawnya Michelle Fuchs Nissen on October 3, 2025, at her home in Billings, MT. Born on July 5, 1981, in Billings, MT to Donald and Kimberly Fuchs. Tawnya was raised in Harlowton, MT until her mother married Douglas Nissen and the family moved to Great Falls. Doug adopted Tawnya on October 23, 1986 and the family soon grew with Tawnya becoming the older sister to Bryttne and Calli. Tawnya was a strong athlete, avid runner, outdoor adventurer and lover of all animals. She played basketball for CMR High School in Great Falls, MT and Powell High School, graduating in 1999. After attending college and working various jobs, she returned to Powell, WY, and welcomed her daughter, Blake Elizabeth Nissen, who became her greatest joy. Tawnya completed her college education in 2013, graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing at the University of Wyoming.
Tawnya is preceded in death by her father, Donald Fuchs; Grandparents, Erwin and Margaret Fuchs, Butch and Jean Nissen and Bob and Mary Oliver; Uncle Frank Connolly and her beloved pets.
She is survived by her Daughter Blake Elizabeth Nissen; Mother and Father, Doug and Kim Nissen; Sisters Bryttne Nissen and Calli Nissen; Sister-in-law, Janice Nissen; Best Friend Kim Edgell; Favorite Cat Oliver and her many loving and caring Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
A service will be held on October 25, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harlowton, MT at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow. Please join us for a luncheon at The Moose Lodge in Harlowton afterward to celebrate Tawnya and share memories with her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to one of the following in memory of Tawnya: Make A Gift | Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter or to Contributions and Self-Support | Alcoholics Anonymous
