SANTA FE – Mr. Ted Edwards passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in Santa Fe.
Born August 11, 1938, in Big Spring, Texas, Mr. Edwards had been a lifelong area resident. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, worked as a lineman for nearly 50 years, and was a member of IBEW Local 66. Ted served as a deacon at both Arcadia Christian Church in Santa Fe and First Christian Church in La Marque. He was a member of Hanger Squares Square Dancing Club and Greater Houston Model A Club. He was a talented wood carver and blacksmith, who created many beautiful pieces and specialized in carved walking sticks. He also enjoyed traveling. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Marceta (Steward) Edwards; children, Suzanne Rene and Randal Wayne Edwards, and their mother, Edna Borm Edwards; brother, Tommy Ray Edwards; sisters, Thelma Jean Goode and Norma Joan Borm and husband, Otto; brother-in-law, Bob Hoyland and wife, Sandra and sister-in-law, Margaret Symmank.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Millie (Hoyland) Eernisse Edwards; sister, Peggy Tyrrell of Alvin; sons, Pastor Jeffrey Eernisse and wife, Tammy of Houston, Matthew Eernisse and wife, Masako of Pacifica, California; daughter, Lara Duhon and husband, Scott of Alvin; brother-in-law, J. D. Symmank of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Japheth and wife, Carson; Jephthah, Shiloh, Hiro, Akira, Yoshi, Wyatt and Dinah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m.at First Christian Church, 1204 Ross Street, La Marque, Texas 77568 with Pastors Jeffrey Eernisse and Rex Teter officiating.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Ted's name to Feed The Children, Post Office Box 36, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73101-0036.
