Obituary of Ted Kansas
Soterios "Ted" Kansas of Delmar, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the early hours of November 16, 2022.
Born on March 30, 1945 in Ilion, NY and raised in Herkimer, Ted was the son of George and Helen (Panarites) Kansas.
Ted was a well-known and respected optician and contact lens fitter in the Capital District, but he was best known for his love of life and his outgoing personality. Teddy's big heart and loving nature to friends, family, and even strangers were legendary and legacies for all of us to follow.
He is survived by his beautiful and beloved wife of 52 years, Joann "Jody", his three adoring children Nicole Kansas of Charleston, SC, George Kansas (Jessica) of Slingerlands, NY, and Theresa Bergeron (Jason) of Billerica, MA. He lived for and cherished his five amazing grandchildren: Helen and Sophia Kansas; and Cameron, Ryan, and Kevin Bergeron. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Peter Kansas (Diane), sister-in-law Mariann Abrams, brother-in-law Bob Cassidy (Betty), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Additionally, Ted was like a second father to numerous friends of his children.
Ted was predeceased by his parents George and Helen Kansas, his son-in-law Patrick Portune, his brother-in-law Frank Abrams, and his best friend and partner-in-crime, Ken Maury.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 1:00 to 4:00pm, concluding with family remembrances, in the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave. Delmar.
Interment will be private
The family asks, in remembrance of him, please take this time to be with your loved ones and share a laugh and a memory of Ted.
