Ted Turner

Ted Raymond Turner, 95, of San Mateo, passed from this life on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. 
Ted was born in San Mateo to Jesse and Pauline Turner, a Florida Pioneer Putnam County family. He lived his whole life in San Mateo, where he was raised. 
Ted was the epitome of "the old school generation" and a man who truly loved farming and lived every day to rise and work the farmland. He was described as the definition of all that is right in a person, a man among men. He was also kind, loyal, honest and fair, loved a good laugh and a good dog. Ted loved children more than life itself, his own and everyone else's on the road he lived on his entire life.
"Pop" as he was affectionately known, loved his family, his friends, his hometown, his work, his woods and simply put, made a life worth living. Running dogs at Roy Road Hunting Club and being with his many friends was a special part of his life he cherished. Even though his presence will be sorely missed, "Pop's" memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him in return.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Pauline Turner; his siblings, Marlene Crabtree, June Crammer, Barbara Gordon and William "Billy" Turner.
Ted is survived by his wife of 68 years, Belle D. "Nan" Turner; a son, Jess Turner (Janet); a daughter, Shelly Adkins; a sister, Diane June; 3 grandchildren, Tiffany Denton (Robbie), Jess, II (Jamie) Turner and Travis Adkins; as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Makynlee Denton, Lexyee Denton, Gracie Turner and Asah Turner.

Graveside services celebrating Ted's life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at San Mateo Cemetery with Bart Tilton officiating. No public visitation is scheduled.
