Teddy H. Evans, 79, of Clermont, Florida, crossed over peacefully on Monday,
October 27, 2025.
Teddy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and
friend whose kindness, humor, and love for his family touched all who knew him.
He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his unwavering dedication to
those he loved, and the countless memories he created with his family and
friends over the years.
He is predeceased by his parents Brooksie Evans and Kathleen Evans, as well
as his brothers George and William. He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa
Evans; his children Darius Evans and Davina Evans, daughter-in-law Adriana, as
well as his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Nalani and Dyani Evans, his
sisters Juanella Bartee, Elnaurice (Cookie) Williams, and Barbara Bailey, many
nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss
him deeply.
Ted graduated from Haaren High School in midtown Manhattan, NY, and went on
to study pharmacology at CUNY for one year. In 1966 he was drafted into the
Army deployed to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a combat wounded
veteran, receiving the Purple Heart for his bravery. He later met his future wife,
Theresa Centeno, whom he married on April 4 th 1970. He had a long career with
the transit authority starting as a token clerk with MTA and later becoming a
revenue agent on the money train. He retired from MTA after many dedicated
years of service. He was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, and in 1999 he
moved to Florida.
Ted cherished his time out fishing, gardening, he loved orchids and owned over
100 of them, and he especially loved taking vacation cruises. He loved to cook
and entertain his friends and family. He was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees,
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved animals,
especially his dogs Snow and April Joy.
The family would like to thank Ted's best friend Stanley P. Byrdsell for always
being there when needed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a tree be planted in his honor.
