Teddy Baron Finney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, of West Harrison, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his cherished family at the age of 77. Born on May 11, 1947, in Springfield, Ohio, to Clarence and Mary (nee Strickle) Finney, Teddy lived a life full of passion, love, and laughter.
Ted dedicated many years of his life to his work as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, leaving a legacy of hard work and determination. A man of great spirit, he was an avid sports enthusiast, proudly standing out as a devoted Cleveland Browns fan amidst the sea of Bengals supporters. He cheered just as passionately for the Ohio State Buckeyes, embodying the true spirit of his Ohio roots.
Teddy's legacy will continue through his devoted wife, Darlene (nee Gerlach) Finney; his loving children, Michelle (Larry Jr.) Rogan, Matthew Finney, Mary (Jason) Taylor, and Christi (Joe Boeke) Finney; as well as his bonus children, Joseph (Tavia) Von Rissen and Carrie (Mark) Ralya. He was a proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, including Caleb (Denim) Godin, Cullen, Cassie, Cobe, Ckai, and Canye Rogan, twins Lauren & Hannah Finney, Kiley (Randy) Call, Trey (Haley), Morgan, & Makenna Taylor, and Willow Hennessee, Annabelle & Clay Boeke, and Chase, Elijah, Caleb, & Josiah Ralya, as well as his great-grandchildren, Matthew & Lucas Godin, Torren & Everen Call, Haden Taylor, and Hadley Usleton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ted rejoiced in the company of family and friends and embraced life with a smile. He will be lovingly remembered for his generous heart and infectious laughter.
Teddy was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Finney; and siblings, Larry & Frankie Finney, Sandy Harmison, and Carol Jean (Carlos) Sparks.
The celebration of Ted's life will begin with a visitation at Brater Winter Funeral Home on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 3 PM until the time of the funeral service at 4 PM, officiated by John Hembry. A second visitation will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel, located at 8200 W National Rd, New Carlisle, OH 45344, on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 10 AM until the service at 10:45 AM, with graveside services to follow.
